The pandemic has influenced many aspects in the lives of Romanians: life changed considerably, teleworking became a convenient option, and the interior of the house became a priority for remodeling. In light of these changes, Reveal Marketing Research conducted a study commissioned by FERRO Group which shows how the days spent at home were prolific for home remodeling ideas, as well as how willing are Romanians to invest in remodeling.
In addition to the negative aspects and elements that occurred after the “stand-by duty at home”, the time spent at home also has its benefits. These include the fact that Romanians are aware of the real need to remodel their homes (8 out of 10 Romanians say they want this).
“Although the economic situation is uncertain and some Romanians have been cautious about investing, we estimate that interest in remodeling and renovations will remain high in the coming year. Remodeling your own home is a priority, especially now that home – the place where we feel safe – has also become the place where many of us spend the most time. ”
If before we focused more on the places associated with spending free time with our family – on the furniture in the living room or on the benefits given by appliances, now every room in the house and things like the water installation, water taps, lighting and so on become just as relevant to our comfort, ”says Marius Luican, CEO of Reveal Marketing Research.
The FERRO Group, one of the top leaders in the market for sanitary equipment and installations, also informs that the market of investing in one’s home is constantly changing. In the past year, trends have been on an upward trajectory and people are investing more and more time, attention and even money in choosing the most suitable home furnishing solutions – a house becomes a home.
Top works for which Romanians would plan a remodeling
Among the type of works that Romanians pay more attention to this year when it comes to renovating, in the first place we have painting (90%), followed by changing the sanitary ware in the bathroom and/or kitchen (72%), changing furniture (64%), changing lighting system (51%) and changing the water installation, in the last place (34%).
How often do Romanians renovate and what budgets do they have?
Romanians say they usually renovate their house/apartment every 4 years. Along with the remodeling, 1 in 4 (24%) also change the sanitary ware in the bathroom (faucets, showers, etc.) and 16% also change the faucet in the kitchen sink.
However, most say they make these changes less often, only when needed – 62% for faucets and showers and 73% for kitchen faucets. When asked about the budget allocated for changing the sanitary ware in the bathroom and/or kitchen, they estimate a total expenditure of approximately 4500 lei.
